Olive Green Adrienne Blouse at Lamberton Conservatory
Welcome back! Two garments in a row? What is this? A blog with a schedule? Not quite. I just had a little time between Christmas and Valentines Day where I needed to decompress with some good old fashioned garment sewing.
I’ve been peeping on the Adrienne Blouse from Friday Pattern Company for so long. The big thing keeping me from just popping one out real hot and fast was that I hate buying knit fabric online and there’s no good place to buy it in person here in Rochester. I was placing a Blackbird order and I’d been eyeing the Bamboo Knit for a while and decided to bite the bullet. I’m not a huge fan of what I’m calling “weightless” jersey- aka super lightweight jersey that sticks to all your bumpy bits and is usually see through. This jersey however is sooooo soft and nice and superbly opaque. Yes, it’s a smidge clingy but I did size down a bunch and so that’s my fault.
The Adrienne blouse is a quick sew with forgiving lines that mean you could get away with making it without adjustments. I did use this Vintage On Tap FBA without a dart on knits tutorial (which I love to death and is a great tutorial) to add an inch in the bust without the bottom getting too loose since I want to tuck it in to skirts and pants and such. The end game was great and I’m obsessed with the fit considering how little time it took to edit and make up.
Long story short I’m superbly happy with this pattern, love the fit and the ease of construction. The only -small- gripe I have is that it was difficult to find a fabric yardage minimum on the pattern and the website and I just guessed at 2 yards. I had a bit of extra fabric so I’m happy to make some undies for me and Sam with this soft ass fabric.
