Chambray Pauline Alice Faura Dress
Sleep, i don’t know about sleep! It’s summertime!
Welcome to summer in Rochester! Sam and I are so ready to wander around the market on sundays and look at… more plants we don’t need.
On to the dress. I made this dress a little more than a month ago and haven’t had time to shoot it until this weekend. it was a great sew, relatively easy pattern construction and straight forward directions.
The Pauline Alice Faura Top and Dress pattern has been on my to-make list since it came out in 2017. It’s a super fluctuating weight friendly dress because you cinch the dress in at the waist with D rings and the upper bodice looks flattering whether it’s fitted, like you see here, or more floaty. I am not pregnant, but I feel like this is a super friendly dress for the first 2 trimesters of pregnancy.
The most interesting part of the construction of this dress is the pouch pocket! I had no idea this dress had a pocket based on the promo pics, and I liked it enough to make it without. But to my surprise it has an elegantly drafted pouch pocket, kind of like an inside hoodie sort of deal. The only thing I don’t love about it is that when you plop your phone and keys in the pocket it sort of waggles around and, in the words of sam, looks like bouncing balls. We all make sacrifices for style.
I made this out of a chambray from Joannes (thank coupons!) and pretty much copied the exact styling of the dress from the Pauline Alice promo pics. I’ve been having trouble finding a chambray I like lately, so if you have any suggestions please let me know! I did a 1” full bust adjustment on the princess seams of the dress, and I feel like if I made it again I would probably drop the waist ties an inch or two.
That’s all folks! Let me know your favorite summer patterns!
