This is a blog dedicated to documenting sewing self drafted and indie sewing patterns, consuming less, being better to people and the earth, creative exploration, and my life and times in Rochester, NY.
Mary Rockcastle is a designer, seamstress, and maker living in Rochester, New York. She graduated Parsons, the New School for Design in 2015 with a BFA in illustration. Combined with a new understanding for the fashion industry and the traumatic collapse of Rana Plaza in Bangladesh in 2013, Mary became interested in making her own clothes.
Since moving back to her hometown of Rochester, Mary has made her work out of her studio space under the broad title of Sablecraft. She sews, paints, designs textiles, drafts patterns, knits, and quilts.

She can often be found sipping coffee in Rochester's South Wedge or sewing with a dog at her feet.
